AOM 2026 Annual Meeting (PDW) · Philadelphia · August 1, 2026
Deglobalization, geopolitical rivalry, and resurgent nationalism are reshaping the environment in which organizations operate. Firms now navigate national security concerns, host-country pressures, and the strategic use of national identity—yet research on these dynamics remains fragmented across fields. This Professional Development Workshop at the Academy of Management 2026 Annual Meeting seeks to advance a unified theoretical framework for organizational nationalism. Four distinguished panelists approach the topic from complementary angles—reviewing the state of management research on nationalism, framing nationalism in global strategy, situating it within corporate political identity, and examining how multinational enterprises reconfigure value chains under host-country nationalism. Together with an open discussion, the session aims to consolidate insights and chart a shared research agenda.
